Vintage Japanese music box in the form of a turntable console. Open the top left compartment, put the needle on the little brass record, and the music box starts playing. The compartment on the right holds jewelry or trinkets or secret things. Both compartments lined with crocodile embossed foil paper - bright gold on the right, crimson on the left. Speaker consoles are pure fakes: exterior is wrapped with grid embossed gold foil paper, the face of the stereo has red foil, with a printed plastic for the AM and FM dial. Below this, four stationary knobs. Body of the box is black lacquered wood. The music comes from the base, a little windup music box that plays a pretty sweet little song. Marked Made in Japan on the base. In good condition, with nicks and scratches and a little chipping to the edges of the lacquer. Visible scratches to the brass disc. Circa 1970s.
