*If you spill on them they will stain, they will get condensation rings on them over time. We personally use them in our house, and have been reusing them for a year and they have held up really well. The ink doesn't run. As long as you don't spill an entire glass of water on them they will be fine. These are not plastic or coated. Nor are they meant to be.
