If wet shaving accessories are what you're after, for yourself or as a gift, this shaving set for men is ideal. As pictured in the last image, this set provides everything except for a razor that you or that special man in your life needs to get on with wet shaving: A one-of-a-kind hand-made mug, a matching mustache-stamped black badger hair brush and a fantastic hand-made soap.
A customer of mine (a new 'wet shaving' fan) asked if I could design a shaving mug for him. The result of our collaboration was the prototype for this lovely shaving mug. I threw this shaving mug on the wheel from white stoneware and added groves on the inside to help the brush infuse air into the lather. I decorated the mug with a mustache-adorned medallion (I carved the mustache stamp myself) and added a handle which is also used to store the matching shaving brush.
The mug is glazed in a semi-matte blue glaze I developed myself. The foot-ring is unglazed. The bottom of the mug is stamped with my studio logo (Rincon Pottery) and my maker's mark ('M' for Miri).
The handmade shave brush features a wheel-thrown ceramic handle (stamped with a mustache) and a black badger hair brush head. The handle of the shave mug was designed to store the brush when not in use.
I mix all my glazes from scratch, so I know exactly what is in them. The glazes I use are food safe and do not include lead or other toxic materials. If you so desired, this shaving mug can be used for food and safely put in the microwave or dishwasher.
