This is a wonderful decorative antique nutmeg grinder produced in either the 1930's or 1940's. The glass jar has the distinctive "HA" symbol on the bottom (which stands for Hazel Atlas) and the numbers 5935 underneath the symbol. The lone number "2" is at the very bottom which indicates it was produced at the Hazel #2 plant in Washington, PA, which is still standing, but unfortunately, is closed down.
The metal chute for the grinding is tarnished, as would be expected for something of it's age, but I think that really adds to it's overall charm.
I suppose the grinder still works, but I don't have any nutmeg to grind.
Would make a great decorative piece in almost any kitchen. Or it could be used as a cool coin holder, or a quaint button storage jar.
Would make the perfect gift for that special grinder of nutmeg in your life.
Stands 6 1/2" tall and is 3 1/2" across.
