This faux panoramic sugar egg sculpture is titled "Marie Dreaming of Childhood Memories" and has a wonderful Marie Antoinette figure for the doll centerpiece. This is one of those sculptures I kept adding things to and finally had to make myself "stop!" She has a vintage painted plastic rabbit in her hair as well as tiny flowers - and she dreams of a childhood filled with simplicity and innocence. There is a small "frozen charlotte" ceramic head above the panoramic scene inside her "egg dress" - representing a simpler time long ago. The scene reveals a chocolate rose embedded in it, with a tiny baby riding in the back of a white swan. Lucite branches and flowers are growing around the opening, creating a quiet, forested place where her memories dwell. Her skirt is decorated with ornate icing flourishes dotted with tiny vintage celluloid flowers. The stand is an upside-down white plastic flower.

These egg sculptures are like little miniature altars with a scenario inside the recessed opening. This egg sculpture stands about 10 inches tall and is about 6 inches wide and approximately 3 inches deep and was created on a sturdy styrofoam egg shaped base and is decorated with faux icing. This egg sculpture will come to you signed and dated. It can be washed and cleaned (carefully) with soapy water when needed.

All my icing is created from high quality acrylic artist materials, from a formula I've developed over the last 30 years, and the colors are hand mixed by me and extremely colorfast. My panoramic egg sculptures are a time consuming process as I start by tracking down interesting vintage cake toppers, plastic toys, lucite and celluloid decorations, and anything else that I like that is washable. I then frost the sculptures by layering multiple layers of faux icing over several days, or weeks - and I make all the faux sugar roses, or other faux icing decorations, like medallions, in advance.

I view cake decorating as a wonderful craft that can also be an eclectic art form - one that I have been using intermittently for the last 30 years to create my quirky cakes and egg sculptures. I love the traditional, colorful and mostly plastic cake topper decorations I find (both vintage and new) that I use to create these one-of-a-kind sculptures.

Many of my items must be very carefully packaged so as not to crush or break, so extra special packaging and care are needed. I can ship outside the U.S.; contact me for a shipping quote.
