These churchkeys start as a single bar of steel. Using traditional hot-forging techniques, I slit and drift the end of the bar, shoulder it, forge the ring, and then cut the opener from the end of the bar. All of this while the bar is glowing a bright orange color (in the neighborhood of a couple thousand degrees.) After it's cut off the longer bar, I shape the handle. Using individual hand-held stamps, I hammer whatever lettering will go into it. The last hot step is to punch the little tongue which forms the operative bit on the tool. After a bit of cleanup and an oil finish, the bottle opener is ready to be gifted to your friends and loved ones.
Please note! This listing serves as an opportunity to order a single hand forged bottle opener, or to make a down payment towards a larger order. I'm happy to create a custom listing at a reduced rate if you'd like to order more than five at once. If you need your bottle openers "ASAP," PLEASE contact me first. My schedule is typically very tight, and while I can occasionally accommodate a rush order, it would be better for all of us if you checked first. Thanks! My current turnaround time is two to three weeks (2-3 weeks.)
Does this listing spark an interest in wrought iron beer tools that is not fully realized here? If so, you can check out my other, burlier style of bottle opener here:
SHIPPING: (I will use your Etsy address unless otherwise instructed)
- We ship USPS Priority Mail with tracking - you will receive an email from Etsy when your item ships
- I CANNOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOST PACKAGES. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PLEASE ASK TO HAVE INSURANCE ADDED TO YOUR SHIPPING. Especially if you live in Chicago: out of a small handful of lost packages, Chicago seems like a black hole drawing them in. With insurance in place, a lost package doesn't cost anyone anything but a little time.
I take great pleasure in delivering high-quality goods that will last more than a lifetime. If any problems ever arise, I will be happy to address them to our mutual satisfaction. Please read and be aware of my shipping policies before ordering.
