With the widespread influence of Japanese pottery on American potters, the yunomi has been a popular form. To translate, a yunomi is a teacup for everyday use in contrast to the chawan which is the type of bowl used in the tea ceremony. Yunomi are generally taller than they are wide, without a handle, and with a cut footring.
