I used the herringbone or Ndebele weave technique to weave this bracelet, with a row of opaque yellow and transparent cobalt stripes on either side of the band. The center of the bracelet has a repeating pattern of arrowhead shapes in transparent yellow, dark blue and light tangerine. The ends of the beadwork are finished with simple straight fringe, and a beaded button and loop clasp made with matching colors.
Although the colors in this piece are bright and summery, I chose simple patterns like those found on traditional Egyptian artifacts and murals for a strong effect. The combination of straight and triangular stripes gives this cuff a bold, tribal look.
Dimensions: The bracelet is 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, and 18 cm (7.1 inches) long, including the clasp. When the clasp is secured, the bracelet has an inside circumference of about 16.5 cm (6.5 inches). The beaded button measures 1.6 cm (0.6 inches) across.
Materials used in this bracelet include high quality Japanese glass seed beads, and a Czech pressed glass druk bead for the button base. I weave all of my jewelry with durable fused nylon thread, which provides plenty of strength and consistent beadwork shapes. This cuff is quite sturdy, and will hold a gentle curved shape when worn.
This one of a kind bracelet comes wrapped in tissue, packed securely with clean, repurposed bubble wrap or foam sheet, and shipped in a durable Canada Post cushion mailer.
