All Rackliffe pots are fired to 2100 degrees and then slowly cooled to give them greater durability than other earthenware pottery. The founder of this studio, Phil Rackliffe, worked at Rowantrees Pottery for 20 years before starting his own studio in 1969. Rackliffe Pottery is still an active family business in Blue Hill, Maine with three generations working there.
I usually have other pieces of vintage Rackliffe and/or Rowantrees pottery in the shop. It is something I always look for at local estate sales so check back often.
