Although it has no label, I'm pretty certain this dramatic skirt is Mexican, probably 1950s in vintage, and probably hand painted. The colors are purples with gold, green and black, and the abstract pattern has a great Mid-Century Modern feel. The black squiggly line is highlighted with hand-sewn bead-centered sequins in areas. The fabric is unlined cotton. The skirt has no fastener, it has a wide black elastic band at the waist.
Please note: I show the skirt over a small crinoline to accentuate its fullness, and that crinoline is not included.
Condition: Good and not better only because the wide elastic band seems stretched out. I don't know if such a wide band can be found now, but if so it would not be a terribly difficult thing to exchange. I decided to leave the band hoping that either it makes the right fit for someone or that the purchaser can replace the band in a way that suits her. There are little speckles and spots here and there on the skirt, but I believe these are evidence of the hand painting...small imperfections.
Size: Large as it is
Waist-32" with some additional stretch
Hip-full
Length-34"
Please note: I measure the dimension of the item itself, and you will need to consider what size you would want the item to be to fit well on you.
