This is an original mixed-media encaustic painting, made with beeswax, encaustic medium, oil paint, graphite, and salvaged materials: sheet music, old maps of the Seattle area, sewing patterns, and other rescued scraps that I've collected along the way.
The painting is 12" tall x 9" wide x 1.75" deep (30.5 cm tall x 22.9 cm wide x 4.4 cm deep), on a sturdy handmade wooden panel. The sides are unpainted, revealing a light wood treated with linseed oil for a very subtle shine. The painting is ready to hang, with a neat wire across the back. It is signed and dated by me on the back. Made in 2011.
The painting has a luminous quality, as you can see layers of collage materials beneath many coats of delicious-smelling beeswax.
