This is the twelfth time I've painted this painting, and each time it comes out slightly different. I mixed it up this time, and gave the girl a coat and black mittens. brr! It's cold out there.
This wintry vision I have in my head comes from a vivid memory I have of my Mom, and how she would tell me to stand outside in the snow with a tiny piece of bread on my hand. She said if I was quiet and still enough, a bird would land on me, and I would get to feed him. aw! How I wanted that to happen!!
This is an original, one-of-a-kind, mixed media portrait painting. I created it using 9x12 wrapped canvas, layers of acrylic paints, gesso, light molding paste, pencil, gel medium, gel gloss, and scraps of paper.

Title: Snow Bird
Size: 9" x 12"
Type: acrylic painting on wrapped canvas. It is heavily a layered mixed media painting. The surface is textured and feels gritty when you run your hand across it. Staples on back. All sides are painted black. No need to frame; can be hung out of the box on a nail right out of the box. However, it would look specular framed, also.
Date of Creation: December 2011.
Sealed several times to protect it from dirt and dust. It has a slight glossy shine, and a gritty, textured feel. If it gets dusty, all you have to do is wipe with a dry cloth.
It is signed, titled and dated on back.
If you like what you see in the photos, you'll like it even more in person. The photos don't do this painting justice. It's hard to capture all the detail with the lens of my camera. I try to do the best I can to get the colors right, but I have dual screens, and the pictures look slightly different on both. Colors vary on monitors.
