Two beautiful, hollow blue glass beads are whorled with darker blue, creating delicate and mesmerizing patterns in the light. They are flanked by simple, ancient-looking blackened brass and hang from elongated, black brass kidney shaped ear wires.

These earrings were inspired by the "Ivory Bangle Lady" of York. Her remains and elegant burial have fascinated historians. A wealthy African woman living in Roman York, she was buried near the Ouse river with jewelry and a perfectly preserved blue glass jug from Cologne. These earrings were inspired by that blue glass and by the darkened metal of the Roman jewelery excavated from York.
