Limoges Plate, fluted gilt edges , floral design. This unusual Limgoes plate is part of the way to being a bowl, its fluted edges curve up, suggesting a flower with gold at the edges of its petals. In its center is a labyrinthine floral design. There is some loss to the gilt on the edges and the design at the center on this old plate, but it is still quite beautiful. The plate is 9 1/2 inches in diameter and has a total rise of about 1 1/2 inches at the top of one of its petals. On the back are three marks for Limoges, one pressed into the porcelain, one a red "Limoges AK France", and one a green Limoges AL with anchor , as well as the mark for the individual plate which I am unable to read. The Al identifies this as originating in the factory of Alfred Laternier around 1900. A beautiful and elegant addition to a European style decorating scheme.
