The reason I love this pattern is that while a washcloth is a necessity (whatever else we are doing, we all need to wash!), this pattern brings a special spa feeling to every day life, when perhaps you have no time for any other luxury. Made from cotton yarn, they are just as practical as the dull terry-toweling type, but so much more beautiful and satisfying to use.
The washcloth has a nubbly texture, which is easy to work, producing a cloth which is gently exfoliating. The washcloth has a neat edging for a 'finished' look and an optional hanging loop - important details often missing from other patterns.
Important feature of my crochet patterns:
My crochet patterns include BOTH a detailed 'tutorial-style' set of instructions with colour photos, AND a succinct unillustrated pattern using standard crochet conventions.
I have developed this style because I find I like to see a lot of detail the first time I work a pattern, but if I then work the same piece again, I don't need the pictures, etc, and indeed they can get in the way when I just want a quick reminder of what I'm doing. The PDF is also structured so that the succinct version, with an area for your own notes, is on a single page, making it easy to just take one sheet of paper with you if you have printed it out for quick reference on the move.
I hate weaving in yarn ends, so this pattern is worked all in one, without breaking off the yarn at any point, and you will only have one yarn end to work in!
To complete one washcloth you will need:
81m (86yards) of double-knitting (DK, light worsted weight, Category 3) yarn of your choice.
4.5mm (7) crochet hook
5mm (H-8) crochet hook
a yarn needle
The pattern includes detailed notes on yarn choice.
The finished cloth is 20cm or 8" square. The pattern includes how to vary the size and other aspects of the basic design if you want to.
This pattern is available in UK or US crochet terminology. Please specify which version you would like in the "notes to seller" section at checkout. If nothing is specified, I will send the UK version.
The UK pattern names suitable yarns currently available in the UK that work perfectly for this pattern.
