The bark of this particular toothpick holder features beautiful raised light brown over dark brown striations. There's lots of character in this handsome wood.
The process of hand sanding and finishing the end grains requires multiple layers and is labor intensive. It's finished with a sealer to bring out the colors in the bark. A cork tops it off. This table top toothpick holder is signed tiny on the bottom. This case is approx 3 1/2" long, not including the cork, which adds about 1/2". The circumference is approximately 4 1/4" around. (Toothpicks not included.)
I make these from black willow that I responsibly collect from my property. Willow is a wonderful renewable resource! I let the wood cure for a year before making the cases.
A handsome addition to the rustic table or kitchen, for those who appreciate natural beauty.
