I created this bracelet for the EBW February 2012 Challenge, "Nest".
I used very often the theme "nest" and "nestling" in my designs. Kris of KrisDesignFSP, who chose the theme for this Challenge says: "I believe thinking about nestling could make us feel comfortable(...). Let´s see what ideas nature gives us.
This cuff is my interpretation and I am sure the wearer will feel happy and lucky. My focal piece features a hex design. The motifs used in hex designs have universal meanings: hearts for love, tulips for faith...
*This single distelfink sign is a symbol of good luck and happiness. The heart adds a measure of love and the tulips faith, see the 8-th sign, here:

**The Distlefink was the good luck bird of the Pennsylvania Germans. It actually was a stylized version of the goldfinch. The goldfinch eats thistle seed and uses thistle down for its nest and was called a thistlefinch from which comes the Pennsylvania Dutch "Distelfink". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hex_sign)
