Words and photos scarcely do justice to this AMAZING 1920s dress! The body of the garment is made of a luscious black silk velvet, while the illusion neckline is made of a nude silk crepe that is bedecked with sparkly prong-set crystals. Of course, the centrepiece is the stunning trompe-l'oeuil bow, which clearly appears to be inspired by Schiaparelli's famous 1927 bow sweater design (though there are no tags in this dress indicating this is in fact a Schia). The v-shaping to the sleeveless bodice flatter the clavicles and shoulders, while the horizontally gored area at the dropped waist and lap level hug the curves of the hips. The other favourite feature of this dress is the dramatic sweep of the fishtail shaping at the back skirt! Truly, this is a dramatic and gorgeous piece! No need to add jewelry, as this beauty has enough sparkle on its own!!!

*Dress has no closures, so must be slipped on over head. I'm a 37-30-40 and shown in the dress in the second image, at right; I thought the dress fit and fell from my body very well (the style was meant to be looser in the bust and waist & more fitted at hips but not skin-tight).
Condition: This garment is in remarkably wonderful and wearable condition for its age. The only things I noted keeping it from minty perfection is a brown foxing spot that has turned to a small hole on the front illusion crepe (see last image), another small eraser sized hole on back illusion crepe, and the slightest touch of rubbing at underarms. Inner facing/liner of illusion areas seem like they have been partially removed (this does not affect wearability at all, but may want to remove or tack down inside dress?). All in all, the above points are very subtle and ultimately do not detract from the jaw-dropping beauty and wearability of this rare and beautiful garment.
