The true powerhouse ingredient in this mask? SULFUR. Sulfur (10%) posses an antibacterial, antifungal and keratolytic properties. Its antibacterial and keratolytic property is especially important to acne treatment. Although sulfur can kill acne-causing bacteria, it is best noted for its keratolytic property, which helps unblock clogged pores.
ZINC OXIDE is wonderfully anti-inflammatory and helps with the redness and irritation that often accompanies acne, particularly cystic acne. Zinc also helps reduce androgenic excesses that are frequently found in adolescents' skin.
WHITE (KAOLIN) CLAY is naturally 'drawing' in action, and as a spa quality clay, does a great job of pulling impurities from the skin and providing the natural detoxification of mineral clays.
OATSTARCH & WHOLE MILK are added to the mask to keep it from drying the skin too much, as clay all by itself can sometimes do. Acne-prone skin does not mean 'oily' skin, and so protection from dryness provides more soothing action. It also helps that milk is so protein rich, and that the oatstarch is naturally anti-inflammatory.

EUCALYPTUS is naturally cooling and refreshing. It soothes inflamed skin and also provides anti-septic strength to the mask.
GREEN TEA is a powerful anti-oxidant to help free-radical damage to the skin and as 'skin food'.
NEEM is a well-known anti-septic Ayurvedic herb and acne treatment
CHAMOMILE is a wonderful anti-inflammatory that can be as powerful as steroid creams when applied topically
ORANGE PEEL provides additional anti-septic and tonifying action
WHITE WILLOW BARK is soothing and pain-relieving. An analgesic for the skin.
This mask is prepared as a dry powder, and is thus very concentrated in form & has a much extended shelf life. This mask will expand to four times it size when wet, so you are getting a LOT of mask for your money, whether you add tea, water, toner, botanical distillate, or plain (whole milk) yogurt as a 'wetting agent'. Directions: Mix 1-2 Tbsp of powder with wetting agent to make a paste (mix at least 30 seconds) and then apply to face with fingers in gentle, upward circles. Leave mask on until dry or tight (15-30 min). Rinse with lukewarm water. Follow with a toner, and if necessary, a moisturizer.
