Machine quilted in parallel lines of white thread. Bound with handmade binding from an old pair of brown linen shorts. Finished with handstitching while I (of course!) watched the movie.
All 4 sides of this set of hotpads are pieced work, so you can enjoy them from any angle. OK, so I know hotpads have nothing to do with True Grit, but this was a fun little game I played, like making miniature quilts.
Machine wash regular, line dry. (The wool patch is felted - it shouldn't shrink further.)
Measures 6.75" x 7.25", a nice rectangle.
Why I Make My Potholders the Way I Do:
1. I have so much fun playing with patchwork, laying fabrics next to each other to see if the sum is larger than the parts. Because the potholders are relatively small, I can use small scraps that would otherwise be thrown away.
2. And I fill my potholders with other "waste" material because I hate to see things wasted. My fabric filling also means the potholders are 100% biodegradable, with no vinyls or plastics.
3. On top of this, my potholders are sturdy and effective in kitchen hot spots. I use the same design in my own kitchen on my hot cast iron, so I'm sure that I'm giving you a real workhorse.
When you buy potholders from me, you are supporting 1. creativity, 2. green/eco-friendly materials, and 3. quality. Enjoy!
