This is a 90% silver coin ring made from a 1963 Franklin half dollar. It is sized 8.5 and the band is 10 mm wide. This ring is heavily antiqued.
The Franklin half dollar, designed by John R. Sinnock, was minted from 1948 to 1963. It has a profile of Benjamin Franklin on the obverse (heads) side, and the Liberty Bell on the reverse (tails) side. The Franklin half was replaced by the Kennedy half dollar after Kennedy's assassination in 1963.
Each ring is a unique combination of the historic use of the coin and my workmanship in transforming it into art.
I make these rings individually by turning them from the flat coin into a ring that leaves the coin relief running across the band of the ring on the outside, and some of the relief left on the inside as well. I then hammer the rings (gently) to create an even shape all around. And finally, they are polished until they shine.
Please confirm your ring size at a jeweler prior to ordering to make sure your ring fits just right!
I can also make pairs of his-and-her rings. Excellent gifts for coin collectors, bankers, economists, patriots!
