There were several layers of flaking paint that I have scraped and sanded judiciously to allow the grain of the wood to show. Beautiful surface color and texture. I have applied a light coat of beeswax to stabilize the paint and bring out the color of the wood.
The metal handle was also salvaged on one of my 'adventures'. Seems just right !!
Great for storage or those little things that need a hiding place.
Construction is fairly simplistic...primitive. Nails are visible. I built this kind of like grampa would have in the basement...so do not expect 'fine cabinetry'. No dovetails here !
