Folk Art Original Painting on Antique Board/Pink Peony

The wood used for this rustic original painting was salvaged from the renovation of an 1800s Vermont Inn. Pink Peony is one of a series of floral paintings on wood entitled Romance Florals. Several boards are shaped, glued together and sanded. They're held together with vertical boards on the back. The background is painted, stamped with original handcut blocks and sanded to allow the wood grain to reemerge and become part of the composition. I then painted the peony with artist grade acrylics, sanded and finished the work with a clear acrylic sealer. No framing is needed. It's signed, W.Russell and ready to hang.
