The bodice is made from my favorite fabric of the moment, a stellar seafoam brocade with a scrolling leaves pattern that has been carefully positioned on the bodice. It is fully lined in matching seafoam fabric. The eyelets are hand-sewn, as they would have been in the early 19th century, and the bodice ties with a white ribbon. Its natural stiffness provides lovely cleavage potential, but the lack of bones or anything else poky keeps the bodice comfortable and wearable. The bodice is patterned to be historically accurate, and the only thing that gives away its modern provenance is a bit of machine topstitching.
This dress is named after a poem by a Regency lady named Ann Yearsley, a Bristolian active in the campaign against the Bristol slave trade.
The underdress is made from high-quality white cotton, and is floor-length with a slight train. The back is fitted, but the front gathers with silky ribbons.
