The CHICKADEES are BRANCHING OUT

Like the other chickadee art in my shop, this piece was inspired by an owl-watching trip we took last winter to Amherst Island, Ontario. We only saw one owl in the woods, but there were zillions of very tame chickadees. These cheerful little birds swarmed us when we brought out some sunflower seeds, landing on our heads, arms and hands. Chickadees will readily come to your hand for food once you assure them you don't have a hankering for chickadee fricasee! We were in the depths of winter and spent a long time feeding those sweet, hungry little songbirds.

This birdalicious rug measures 23.25" x 10.25" and was hooked on rug warp. It is meant to be hung on a wall rather than flung on a floor! There are four black fabric tabs for hanging the rug from a dowel. It is "fine" (as opposed to "primitive") hooking, meaning I use fine-cut strips of wool fabric, each loop pulled up by hand.
