The finest example of Vecabe's work I have ever seen. A near complete French workshop kit displaying a wide range of the impeccable craftsmanship of bridges, crowns, prosthetic and porcelain teeth c.1920.
Vecabe truly brought dentistry into the modern age. It was the intention to provide the modern world with the work. These items were revolutionary for their unparalleled quality. Each tooth would be created, fired, painted and finished individually made from enamel. Attached to each tooth is a numbered gold and brass peg which would allow placement and removal. Together they form a perfect bite. The Pewter dental model opens 180 degrees. Stamping on top reads WEKABE USA Patented 1916376 1822043 (in rectangle 8560) They are quite scarce and have a removable riveted plate on top for the proper country they were destined for.
What makes this set so special is the presence of almost all of the bridges, extra teeth, gold crowns, and dental tool. Paramount is the fact that all of these pieces never survive due to the obvious fact that over 90 years, most everyone would scrap all of the gold in these works of medical art. Eventually what was left were only the pewter model with some teeth. A kit being intact, of this size and scarcity increases the value tremendously. It is proper to state that it is one of a kind. Examples can be seen at the Musee Dentaire in Lyon France. Lesser kits have seen evaluations at 20,000 Euros.
The absolute crown in any historical dental collectors museum. Finding another in a lifetime is most unlikely. Please ask any questions you may have. Shipping and full insurance will of course be provided. Will ship internationally. Kit measures 13 inches wide, 11 inches deep, and 5 inches tall in its closed state. Open it measures 14 inches tall, 26 inches wide. *Please contact me with ANY questions you might have, open to discussion*
