"It was the second morning of February. The woods and the fields were covered with snow. The wind blew from a cold gray sky. "This is the day!" said a voice from under the ground. "This is the day I make my prediction! Will spring be early or will spring be late?". This was the groundhog, muttering to himself. He tried to smell the sun, he tried to see his shadow, for everyone knows, if he doesn't see his shadow, spring will be early. And then he saw a red flower in the snow. A flower in February? What do you suppose happened when the groundhog led the animals to the red flower?"
This is a well loved, retired library book, so it has some wear and tear and ink stampings but over all it is good and a very cute book.
