i'm deep in the throes of mountain winter here on firefly road, and am inspired to create new jewelry in the natural winter colors of cream, sepia, white, and grey. all manner of trims and trinkets from my studio collection have been incorporated - this wrap bracelet/necklace incorporates a very old linen measuring tape sent from europe (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COLOR OF THE TAPE IS MORE SOFT, OLD CREAMY BUTTER THAN THE YELLOW THAT THE PHOTOS SUGGEST), hand stitched with assorted antique mother of pearl buttons, and four of my assorted-sized cast sterling buttons from my studio collection. i've also stitched a bit of vintage zipper metal to the edge of one side of the measuring tape. this is one of my favorite pieces i've made - the tape is soft from use, and feels good wrapped around either the wrist or dangling in one length from the neck. i've attached it to two hammered sterling circles, and have added a couple of heavy sterling links so that the length can be adjusted with the silverplate watch fob clasp. dangling at the end of the links is a splendid antique mother of pearl shank button.
total length is 21".
this bracelet looks very dear on its own, or stacked with other bracelets from this new series (see the last photo for how they look as a collection; photo is for display only - this listing is for one bracelet).
