This scrumptious Asian herb has been homegrown in my neighbor's window box without chemicals or pesticides!
I've had numerous requests for shiso/perilla and sought to find it all over my city. Turns out, my Japanese neighbor was growing it in her window all along! Now you won't have to look any further!
The sweet and spicy leave of the heirloom Asian perilla have a popular anise flavor that is adored by Koreans and the Japanese. Found is numerous types of East Asian cuisines, perilla is an essential herb to the ethnic cook's kitchen and pairs quite nicely with almost any dish. Commonly it is found with sushi, curries, soups, roasts, sandwiches, breads... you name it!
Plants grow around a foot tall(though I do believe they get bigger, depending on how you care for it) and have jagged green leaves strong stems. Seedlings germinate best at cooler temperatures and the plant reaches optimum growth in cooler areas. In warm areas, the shiso will still grow and taste the same, but will be slightly smaller.
Not only are they delicious, the leaves are rich in calcium and iron, and are great for garnishes and seasoning.
Each hand designed and child decorated packet contains at least 20 organic homegrown seeds! Each seed packet features it's own special image drawn by our residential little artists! My friends and I do not use pesticides or chemicals in our garden!
Shipping costs cover the base shipping and the handling- it's tough work isolating species and harvesting seeds.
WHY DOES IT COST MORE TO SHIP THIS SHISO SEED?!
Many many MANY apologies to everyone for increasing the shipping costs on certain seeds($1.50 to $2) . Due to the delicate nature of these small seeds and the careless nature of the post office, I am required to put extra padding and upgrade to First Class in order to keep these seeds from getting crushed! As much as I hate to hike up rates like a evil beast of money-mongering, post office policy mandates that I take precautions for certain seeds... and I want to make sure your seeds get to your garden as happy as possible!
So you can be as happy as possible, of course!
