On Jan 22 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled on the Roe v Wade and Doe v. Bolton cases. These historic rulings made abortion legal in all states in the USA. Since then, anti-choice forces have mounted numerous attacks on women's rights with various degrees of success. Unfortunately in 2012, the attacks are coming yet again. Since this is an election year, it is more important than ever for us women to stand up for our rights and those of our sisters. A button is a great way to do that. Whether you wear it at the store or at a poltical rally, you'll be letting people know that you are not going to let them trample on your rights.
For those of you who don't know, the bloody coat hanger is a symbol of the women who died of illegal back alley abortions prior to (and sadly in some cases, since) 1973.
