The book's title is a funny riff on both Captain Cook and Plumbly's book The Curious Cruise of Captain Santa. It's the story of a funny little captain who heads out to the high seas and meets all sorts of people who evoke baked goodies (that need baking powder.) It includes recipes here and there.
This book is absolutely not politically correct, as the depictions of the black people will show you; but the illustrations are nicely-done and very vivid. The book is unpaginated, but is around 24 pages long. It is 7 x 7 inches in size.
A great addition to a vintage cookbook collection!
BOOK CONDITION
The paper wrap cover shows some wear and soiling on the front and the back. The edges around the spine are worn, and there is a crossed-out spot on the front cover where someone wrote their name. The back cover has a gift inscription on it.
The interior pages are all securely attached. There is age-related yellowing and some minor spotting. There are closed tears on 2 pages that go between 1/3 and 1/2 of the way across the page, but they do not impact the readability of the text. One such tear is included in the photographs.
