This is a walnut limb that was struck by lighting and discarded to the fire wood pile. Someone determined it really wasn't good enough for fire wood and it was thrown into the chipper pile. When I started carving, really removing bad wood I had no idea what I was going to do with it. Eighty hours later I had a free form sculpture that became a floor lamp. I developed the "Original Leaf Shade" because I could not find a store bought that would work. It took three years with many, many failures. I spent most of my professional career as a commercial photographer so the quality of light was very important. The shade looks like stained glass from across the room and when someone realizes it is made of leaves, the response is the same, Wow!
