Kaj Franck believed that "“objects should always be appropriate, durable and functional.” He forgot to add AWESOME! This rare Finel enamel red bird cup, designed by Mr. Franck has stood the test of time beautifully. These were made between 1971 - 1975 and embody the modern design movement in full swing at that time. These are tough to find, highly sought after and these are about as perfect as they come.
This cup is in excellent vintage condition, especially considering it is enamel. It has one flea bite on the rim which is only noticible if you feel for it, as well as a couple of other flea bites on the handle's edge.
This version of the cup came with a hole drilled in handle. This may have been as a means to hang them on a tree or hook of some kind. There is minor wear around these holes where the enamel did not penetrate fully into the hole during the manufacturing process.
There is an intact label on the bottom which reads ARABIA Wartsila Finland. This is the export label dating it to 1971-1975.
****A word of caution...Enamelware is glass on metal and is easy to chip. Use care in how you store, wash and care for your vintage enamelware treasures.
3 1/8" H x 3" Diameter or 4 1/8" W including the handle.
