These were made by the Treadeasy shoe company sometime between 1917 and 1929 in a bar strap style with a pearly button closure and gently rounded pointy toe. During this time, a delicate, pretty shoe was most fashionable since skirts were now short enough to show them off. Due to the dance craze of that era, it was also quite important that the shoe stay securely on the foot -- all those Charleston kicks could really send a shoe flying! -- so this Mary Jane style was the most popular shoe of the decade. These lovely heels are made of suede kid leather in an olive brown color with genuine leather soles & linings, little cutouts near the strap, deco leather details, and grosgrain ribbon trim.
I don't see a size marked, but based on the measurements, they're approximately a US woman's size 5.5 to 6...when you check the measurements please be sure to allow extra room for the pointed toe. I think they'll best fit a rather slender foot with a length of 8 3/4" or so.
length: 9 1/4" heel to toe on the insole
width: 2 7/8" across the ball of the foot on the bottom
heel: 2 1/2" height
As far as condition goes, they are in very good condition for their age. They show a good bit of cosmetic wear, with soiling, water-stains, and spotting on the exterior (the most obvious is on the instep of the left shoe, shown in the third picture). I haven't tried to clean them -- perhaps a suede brush would lessen some of this -- but as is, I think it is more obvious in the photos than it would be while they're being worn. And in a wabi-sabi way, to me these signs of wear make them even more beautiful. Structurally, they are strong and sturdy ...the soles are still flexible and the leather isn't cracking or dried out. They could certainly still be worn even after all these years, and with their graceful air and elegant beauty, they are perfect for display ~
