This is larger than many vanity powder tins, measuring 5" across, and 2 3/4" high.
Watkins produced vanity powders in the 1920s, and the colors and design elements of this tin do suggest the Art Deco era.
The graphics on the lid are lovely ~ featuring a Victorian lady with her delicate low cut bodice and full skirt, she carries her parasol, and is in a lush tropical garden setting.
The detailing of the design is intriguing, with teeny tiny dots on grounds of color for variations of hue.
The tin is empty, with just a whisper of powder remaining. The interiors are rust free, there is a bit of light wear to the exterior around the edges of the lid, where most typical wear would be evident. Please see all close up photographs.
These old tins are gaining in popularity to cleverly use them for jewelry storage, or momentos. The art is marvelous, and this larger size is much more convenient than some of the smaller sizes.
*** Lovely gift for a tin collector, or a collector of cosmetics of the past. It would be a delight for Valentine's or perhaps Mother's Day, too.
