This 8x10” archival print is made from one of my sketchbook pages, drawn on location at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. The original drawing is tinted with watercolors and embellished digitally.
While I was living in SF I made a regular habit of going to the museum with my sketchbook.. I love drawing this sort of historical object. They're interesting of course as a work of art, but as well, standing in front of the real thing, I can feel the incredible story behind it. Who might have worn in? Were they heroic, or some sort of despot? How did they die? What went into making such a complex artifact? There's so much to be inspired by!
I make the prints using 100 year rated light-fast inks on acid free 19 mil 100% cotton rag watercolor paper. As with any archival art material if they are hung out of direct sunlight they'll last for many decades.
The print will be sent to you unmatted and unframed. Each print is enclosed in a clear protective sleeve with an acid free backing board, which is placed between in two sheets of corrugated cardboard, and shipped in a water resistant envelope.
