With illustrations on nearly every page, it's evident that Kathryn Sturges was greatly influenced by classical Japanese art, and the result is a children's book that is amazingly beautiful and delicate.
In amazingly good condition (see notes below,) this would be greatly enjoyed by both adults and children.
BOOK CONDITION
The cloth cover is in very good condition with just a bit of rubbing along the spine and some bumping and wear at the corners. The paste-down illustration is clean and bright, and the title is distinct. The lettering on the spine shows some fading, but is still readable.
The interior has beautiful illustrated endpapers. On the page opposite the title page, a vintage book plate is attached that is really very lovely in its own right. There are no markings, rips or tears in the book. The pages do show some age-related yellowing and I detect a bit of an old book smell -- not mustiness, but the type of old book smell one would note in a library.
Overall, the book is in very good to excellent condition.
