Needle Felted Bird - Cedar Waxwing

This is a one of a kind needle felt sculpture of an adult male Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum). Standing at 5 inches, it is approximately life size. The sculpted core is made with a wool blend and the fine details and feathers are done with merino wool. Wire armature surrounded by wool was used to make the legs and feet.
