What a perfectly lovely way to use up those bits and pieces and odds and ends I end up with in my sewing room. There are always strips of fabric leftover from making clothes and purses, and what better way to keep using them? I take my scraps and turn them into beautiful flower pins. These are beautiful with a shawl or scarf. Pin it on your bag (carefully, please! No leather - you'll never get the pin marks out). Put them on a headband and rock that flower.
This pin is made from a gorgeous plum pinstripe wool and ivory silk dupioni. Each part is hand sewn - the backing is a mauve silk piece, and the pin back is strongly hand sewn with doubled up thread to the backing. The flower measures 4.5" ( 11.5 cm) across.
