Lacquerware with gold dust embellishments, 5 bowls including one large serving bowls - all with different views of pagodas, wispy trees, mountains or water. The large bowl is additionally embellished with mother of pearl. Laquer work of this caliber dates back to the 15th century.

Hananuri is the special technique involving coating with lacquer, drying and finishing without polishing. Makie is the technique of applying gold dust in gorgeous designs.

The large serving bowl measures 10 1/2 inches in diameter and is approximately 4 inches in depth; the smaller bowls measure 6 inches in diameter and are approximately 2 inches in depth. Stamped Aizu inside a 5-pointed star or flower and Made in Japan.These solid cherry wood bowls are true Urushi, coated over six times with Japanese Lacquer. The hand-painted designs will not fade or rub off. They are the finest, highest quality Japanese craftsman offer.

One of the small bowls has been repaired. You can see the repair in one of the photos.
