Quantity 12 disc (6 pair)
Many have asked if I would be willing to produce bead cap blanks or washers for making your own bead caps. These 24 gauge copper discs are 1/2" in diameter and punched with a hole for the 4.37mm ID/ 5mm OD tubing that I sell.
Please read this description completely before purchasing. These are the blanks that I use to make my bead caps, and the inner hole is specific to a tight fit on the Fits-Pandora tubing AFTER fabrication into a final form. It is important that you know the hole in the disc will NOT initially fit over the tubing. After texturing and doming into a bead cap, the hole should stretch and fit the tubing. Occasionally I find I need to remove an edge or file a bit more when the doming process did not stretch enough.
Care should be taken not to hammer/punch the disc edges unless you want a notched edge look. When stamping and doming, I use a firm-but-gentle strike and rotate the disks between blows. This allows for an even distribution of force to keep the bead hole consistent.
Now, for those of you skilled in traditional metalsmithing: yes, I know this goes against the teachings of texture first, punch blank, and lastly drill/punch the hole. This is a bit unusual of a process that works for me, and I hope for you as well. Because these caps are meant to be used with core lining techniques, the flare of the core line should cover any irregularities of the inner diameter hole edges.
