This original work of a single green fishing lure is one in a series I call my "Curio Cabinet" series. For this group of paintings, I explore the profound meaning of rare treasures such as marbles, buttons, and fishing lures. These tiny, easily-overlooked objects remind us of people and things past – Grandma’s button jar or Dad’s tacklebox. I like to think that the nostalgia they represent is the entrypoint, but that I unmoor them from those meanings to create something new, as if we were looking at them for the first time.
This painting has white painted edges, which are 2 1/2-inches (6.35 cm) deep (gallery-wrapped canvas). It is ready to hang and is signed, dated, and titled on the back by the artist.
