If you have some t-shirts or memorabilia from the Grateful Dead or another music group, look what I can do with them. These pictures are from a quilt I designed, featuring the Grateful Dead shirts. This fabulous quilt now belongs to someone else. Lucky Guy!
Pricing is for a standard lap size quilt. The back of this quilt has red "peace" sign fabric, and two more shirts from when Jerry passed. Of course, your quilt will be different, according to the shirts you have.
This is a beautiful quilt. My t-shirt quilts all have unique patterns and each one has individualism, which makes it "one of a kind." No two quilts are the same. No "cookie cutter" designs. Most all of them have some hand embroidery work, depending on the theme. For this quilt, hand pieced and appliqued roses were made.
The difference between my memory quilts and all the others is significant. I don't simply cut the t-shirts into squares and sew them together. I cut out the best parts of each t-shirt. Each shirt section is stabelized and then a one inch fabric binding is added to each shirt. Then each piece is worked into an original designed pattern surrounded by beautiful fabrics and quilting designs. When finished, you have a beautiful, cuddly quilt, that features the best of the t-shirts, but also with the beautiful fabrics included that make quilts so special. Your t-shirt quilt will truly become an heirloom. And on the back, you will find a personalized label with the special thought that you supply. Every quilt is machine quilted overall, and the binding is machine stitched and hand bound for stability, longevity and beauty.
I design a personalized pattern for each quilt, using the best parts of each T-shirt, including the fronts, backs, sleeves and, in some cases, the labels. I also make sure the quilt and pattern enhances the personal interests of the person the quilt is for. No guesswork. No disappointments. The quilts are designed and quilted to last a lifetime. Each finished product will look and feel the way a quilt should feel - soft and cuddly... yet completely quilted and durable for generations.
And I keep my clients in the process. You pick the colors of the surrounding fabrics and the backing. The beauty of the way I design my t-shirt quilts is that no matter how many or how few you have, I can still make any size quilt you want and need by adding more or less fabrics. The prices and postage vary according to the quilt size. The pricing and postage listed are for a standard lap size quilt, 50 x 60. That includes ....the additional fabric, the pattern, the batting and backing, a photo block, if desired, and an individual label. And of course, every quilt is completely quilted for beauty and longevity. Not just a large X across the middle of the blocks. The binding is two fold, machine stitched and hand sewn for beauty and durability.
Every shirt, or piece of memorabilia, is checked and repaired before being used. Only the best parts of the items are used.
