Adding to the winsome nature of the story are the illustrations of Pamela Bianco -- the daughter of Margery Williams Bianco. A child prodigy, she illustrated many books as a youngster and as an adult became a painter and printmaker.
This particular copy is a 1927 first edition that was part of a school library, but has very few library markings. It is 8.25 x 6 in size.
BOOK CONDITION
The green cloth cover is plain, but is sold and clean with just a small bit of bumping a the tips. Inside the front cover is a very attractive vintage bookplate that states it was part of a book library. The only other library marks are neatly-written numbers at the bottom of the first page of the story and at the bottom of the last page of the story. The marks look like they may be in pencil and could be erased. I noted two or three pages with small (under 1 inch) closed tears at the bottom of the page. There is some age-related yellowing to the pages. Beyond that, the book is clean and tight,
