I have been having fun playing with new glass and shading techniques and this is the result! I was so pleased with the sweet expression this little bird has and his soft colouring. He's posed precariously on his little branch and looks like he is about to burst into song!
Made on a background of soft ivory, this special focal has a vertical hole and would look great alone as a pendant or would make a dramatic centerpiece in a more elaborate necklace design!
This bead was handcrafted with Italian glass and wound on a 3/32" mandrel. The bird is made from thin glass "stringer" and is melted directly into the bead. All of my beads are made fresh daily and are annealed straight from the torch in a digitally - controlled kiln for lasting durability.
