This 86" long X 69.5" wide twin-sized quilt is probably best suited for a girl's room but could be loved by anyone who likes bright colors. The quilt top is pieced in a variation of a chain pattern with different types of stars. It features a white Fairy Frost background with stars in bright colors including hot pink, lime green, lavender and orange. The chain and inner border are a bright purple with tiny shiny tone on tone dots. The wider outer border is a bright floral print of dahlias in purple, pink and orange with black accents. The backing fabric has a white background with colorful striped dots in purple, lime green, orange and hot pink with a silver ring around each dot. The binding of the quilt is done in a black, hot pink, and orange striped fabric and also has a very unique small purple piping accent. All the fabrics used are "quilt-shop quality" 100% cotton fabrics. This gorgeous quilt was custom machine-quilted with a white thread in the body of the quilt. The quilting design is a meander through the white sections and a daisy-shaped flower over each star. The purple chain is quilted in a variegated purple thread in a loopy design. This same loopy design was done on the inner purple border and small leaves were also added. Finally, the outer border was quilted in the variegated purple thread and incorporates all the quilting designs of loops, daises and leaves. The entire back of the quilt was quilted in white thread so it doesn't take away from the busy dot fabric. This is truly a One of A Kind quilt!!!
The matching pillowcase is sized for a standard bed pillow and is a colorful bubble print in the same colors as the quilt. The cuff of the pillowcase is lime green with purple and teal stripes and is "separated" from the body of the pillowcase by a folded accent trim of the same purple with shiny dots used in the quilt chain.
This would be a wonderful addition to a room for a girl of any age and could also be used as a dorm quilt. As with most handmade quilted treasures, it can be washed in a machine and dried in a dryer but the cotton batting may shrink some giving it an "antique" look. If you don't like this look, you can wash it by hand using the directions on a package of VintageTextile Soak and lay it flat to dry. It will last longer if treated more gently.
