At its heart, is Shay Pendray's famous BLT or Best Laying Tool.
The Best Laying Tool is the American version of the Japanese "tekobari". A sharp metal tool used primarily for laying flat and taught silk threads used in Japanese silk embroidery. This tool is just as effective on other types of thread as well. With its tapered sharp point, you can use it as a stiletto The shaft of the needle is very smooth, allowing your threads to move easily over the metal surface as you work them into place and keep them in order.

When you find yourself in situation where you need to keep your threads parallel and smooth, the Best Laying Tool is just the thing you need.
Normally with the Best Laying Tool, the handle of this tool is a long, sort of 3-D rectangle.
Works well for not rolling around on you, but not the most comfortable in the hand after a long while of working with it.
When putting the A lot people just store it in the little tube the needle comes in and puts the little red cap on.
Then, the poor needle wiggles around in the tube dulling the point of the needle with each bump or swing of the stitching bag.
Worse yet, the little red cap gets lost and the needle goes stabbing through anything in its path.....
That's where JR Crafter steps in.....
We take the normal Best Laying Tool, build a beautiful and functional case around it and give our customers renewed joy in their crafting talents.
At first, you get the warm tingles of getting a new tool in the mail.
Like a child taring into a toy on Christmas, even though there is no surprise as to what it will be.
Then, you have to use it.
You sit down at the project you have been working on but haven't felt the desire to pick it up in the past couple of days. You get back into the rhythm of it and you find yourself saying things like:
"I've been using it practically every day on the project I'm doing right now, and it's wonderful - so nicely weighted, so easy to hold (Much easier to hold than the plain BLT). Just absolutely love it! "

You'll most likely find yourself finishing up that piece pretty quickly and onto the next. The parts that could be a pain, now seem a lot easier with this new tool and more comfortable too!
Weather you have arthritis or not, you should find this tool makes your thread laying much easier and more comfortable than ever.
Remember the part about the tip getting dull or poking its way through everything in your bag?
We take care of that with the cap:
Easy screw on and off
Nice and solid construction (like another handle protecting the tip)
Best Laying Tool is secured inside the handle, so no wiggling around inside
Screw on the cap, throw it in what ever you want and forget it.
It's not going to poke or scratch anything with that tip now!
This handle and case is created from a piece of acrylic named Seafoam. Named for the blue and green pattern formed, which you can see in the pictures above.
