The bookmark itself is reminiscent of Katniss' feathered arrows that helped her succeed in the arena. Each bead on this bookmark is symbolic of a theme in the series. The music notes are for Rue's song. The black quartz is for the coal miners from District 12. The red wooden bead is charred on one side, representing the girl on fire. The silver bird is of course the mockingjay, and the rose bronze tree is The Hanging Tree, an eerie song sung by Katniss. Also, it is not pictured, but the bookmark will include a real freshwater pearl, which Peeta gave to Katniss during the second novel.
