Celebrating the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is a great joy, but it is often difficult to find ways to communicate the great joy of Easter to our children. This Easter Banner, which functions much like an Advent Calendar, will help you share about the events of Holy Week with the young children in your home. Each day, from Palm Sunday to Good Friday, new pieces are added to the banner. On Good Friday nails are placed in the cross and a wrapped body is placed in the tomb at the bottom of the banner. The black piece is then pulled over the banner until Easter Sunday, when the body is removed and the final banner display proclaims the great news: HE IS RISEN!

A packet accompanies the Easter banner with an introduction, passage of Scripture, and discussion for each day. The Scripture for this packet is taken from Matthew 21 and 26-28. The key theme of the passages interweaves the idea that "Jesus came to die." This set is designed for use with young children (2-6) but would benefit older children as well. Check back next year as we plan on adding new symbols for the banner with accompanying material that is appropriate for older children.
