It has an English cane handle and a built-in strainer for loose leaves as well as tea bags. The spout pours very well without spilling, as I pay particular attention to this detail.
This teapot is intended for the purpose of brewing tea, so do not use it as a kettle on an open flame. It is always a good idea to warm it up by rolling a little hot water around in it before filling completely with boiling water from the kettle.
It was made using white stoneware clay with the wheel thrown pieces assembled into a functional whole. It's decorations were made using slips and my wax-resist designs. Glazes are a yellow salt and a matte white high fired to approx. 2350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Food safe and dishwasher safe but easier to wash by hand due to cane handle.
Dimensions are approx. 9 1/2" tall from base to the top of handle, "7 tall body and 6" in diameter, capacity 44 oz.
A lovely teapot such as this one will make a fantastic gift for a wedding, anniversary, birthday or for your own baking pleasure. It would be a great addition to any teapot collection.
